Selecting Multiple Items & Bulk Operations

OrderNow lets you work with several items at once. Instead of deleting, removing, or editing items one by one, you can select multiple items and apply a single action to all of them. This guide explains how multi-selection works and where you can use it.

1. Understanding Bulk Operations

Bulk operations save time when you need to handle more than one item the same way:

• Select the items you want to work with using checkboxes (or a search filter)
• Apply one action — delete, remove, or update — to all selected items at once
• Confirm the action when a popup asks you to

2. Selecting Multiple Items — The Basics

Most bulk operations use checkboxes (☐) to select items:

1. Click the checkbox on an item to select it — the item becomes highlighted (for example, with a red outline or background)
2. Click the checkbox again to deselect the item
3. Use "Select all" to select every item currently shown, or "Deselect all" to clear your selection
4. The action button shows how many items are selected, for example "Delete (3)"

TIP

Tip: Use the search field first to narrow down the list, then select all — only the items matching your search are selected.

3. Resources — Delete Several Images at Once

1. Navigate to Admin → Resources
2. Optionally, use the search field to filter the images first
3. Click the checkbox in the top-left corner of each image you want to delete. Selected images get a red outline
4. Click "Select all" to select every image currently shown, or "Deselect all" to clear the selection
5. Click the red "Delete (N)" button — N is the number of selected images
6. Confirm the popup "Delete N resources?" with Yes

WARNING

Warning: Deleting resources is permanent and cannot be undone. Only delete images you no longer need.

4. Manage Devices — Remove Several Devices at Once

1. Open the Tables page
2. Open "Manage devices" for the table or session you want to clean up
3. Click the checkbox next to each device you want to remove. Selected devices are highlighted
4. Click "Select all" or "Deselect all" as needed
5. Click "Remove selected" — the selected devices are removed from the session immediately

::: note Note: There is no confirmation popup when removing devices — the removal happens as soon as you click "Remove selected". :::

5. Item List Editor — Batch-Edit Many Items at Once

In the Item List Editor, bulk operations work with a search filter instead of checkboxes. All items matching your filter are treated as one batch.

1. Navigate to Admin → Item List Editor for your selected configuration
2. Type a search in the filter field — for example, an item number range like #8-12
3. The "Batch Edit (N)" button appears in the header — N is the number of matching items
4. Click "Batch Edit (N)" — the batch editor opens with the title "Batch Edit — N items"
5. Change only the fields you want to update:
   • Fields with a common value show that value
   • Fields with different values show "— mixed values —"
   • Fields you leave untouched stay as they are
6. Optionally use Image Operations: automatically assign images to items without one, or force-reassign images for all items
7. Click "Apply"

::: note Note: Only the fields you change are applied to the items. Everything else is left untouched. :::

Filter Examples

You type	What it selects
#5	Only item number 5
#10-	All items from number 10 onwards
#-15	All items up to number 15
#8-12	Items 8 to 12 (inclusive)

Tip: You can also type a plain text search, for example a dish name. Click the help button (?), to open the Filtering and Batch Operations Guide inside the app for more examples.

6. Assigning Several Menus to a Table

You can also select more than one menu when assigning menus to a table:

1. Open the Tables page and select a table
2. Click "Assign menu"
3. Use the + and − buttons to set quantities for the menus you want to assign
4. Click "Assign" — all selected menus are assigned to the table at once

::: note Note: Only menus from one menu group can be assigned at a time. Menus from other groups are disabled while you make your selection. :::

Best Practices

• Check the count on the action button (for example, "Delete (3)") before confirming — make sure you selected the right items
• Search first, then select all — this avoids accidentally selecting items you did not intend to include
• Batch-edit only what you need — fields you do not touch remain unchanged
• Deletion is permanent — there is no undo, so double-check before confirming a delete

Troubleshooting

Issue	Solution
The delete/remove button is grayed out	No items are selected. Click a checkbox first.
The "Batch Edit" button does not appear	Enter a valid search filter first. The button appears only when at least one item matches.
I accidentally selected an item	Click its checkbox again to deselect it.
"Select all" seems to skip some items	"Select all" works on the currently shown list. Clear or change your search filter first.
